Disconnecting and deleting your account

Switching off keeps everything ready; Disconnect Whop unlinks the store from its business, Disconnect Shopify removes the store and its credentials, and account deletion is done by hand on request.

Updated

Switching off is not disconnecting

To stop using the LatchPay checkout for a while, switch Checkout interception off in Settings. Buyers get Shopify's checkout on the next page load, the theme line can stay, and everything is ready to switch on again. Disconnecting is for leaving, or for starting a connection over. With more than one store, both the switch and the disconnect buttons act on the store selected in the store menu at the top left; your other stores are not touched.

Disconnect Whop

  • Unlinks the selected store from its Whop business; the Whop page asks you to pick a business for that store again.
  • When no other store pays into that business, LatchPay also removes the payment webhook it registered there and marks the business disconnected. When another store still pays into it, the business and its webhook stay for that store.
  • The store's payments stop immediately; its buyers get Shopify's checkout.
  • Payments, refunds and disputes already on Whop stay on Whop, of course; the LatchPay app stays installed on the business until you remove it in Whop's Authorized apps.
  • Connect again from the Whop page at any time, to the same or another business.

Disconnect Shopify

  • Removes the selected store from LatchPay and deletes its saved Client ID, Client secret or legacy token. With more than one store you can also disconnect any store from the list on the Shopify page.
  • That store's checkouts stop immediately.
  • The usage fee for what the store sold before you disconnected it is still charged in the next weekly run, and a fee charge that failed is still retried. Connecting the same store again brings back its fee history, including a pause from a failed fee charge.
  • Orders already written to Shopify stay in Shopify. The custom app stays in your Dev Dashboard until you uninstall or delete it there.
  • Remove the theme line from theme.liquid when you leave for good; while it is there it only asks LatchPay for a config that answers "enabled: false".

Delete your LatchPay account

  1. Cancel the membership on Whop

Deleting the LatchPay account does not cancel the Whop membership; do that in your Whop hub, or it keeps renewing.

  2. Ask us to delete the account

Account deletion is not available from Settings yet. Ask us through the support form and we remove the connections, stored credentials and tokens by hand; the Delete account button in the danger zone currently answers "not yet available".

What is removed and what stays

Removed: the connections and the stored credentials and tokens. Stays: orders already in Shopify (in Shopify), payments on Whop (on Whop), and the invoicing records LatchPay must keep, which in the Netherlands is seven years. Ask us to remove anything else the privacy notice lets you remove.
