Setting up LatchPay: the six steps

Before you start

After you sign in with Whop for the first time, LatchPay opens the setup wizard at /onboarding instead of an empty dashboard. You need three things: a Whop account, a Whop business of your own that will receive store payments, and admin access to the Shopify store. The whole run takes about 15 minutes. The wizard sets up your first store; more stores are added later from the dashboard.

The six steps

   Membership (about 2 minutes)

   Pick Starter or Scale and pay on Whop. The wizard checks the membership with Whop; press I've paid, check again right after paying. Continue unlocks once it is active.

2. 2

   Shopify store (about 5 minutes)

   Create a custom app in your Shopify Dev Dashboard with the scopes LatchPay lists, install it on the store, and paste its Client ID and Client secret. LatchPay verifies the scopes and reads the shop settings.

3. 3

   Whop business for this store (about 3 minutes)

   Choose which of your Whop businesses receives this store's payments, install the LatchPay app on it and approve its permissions. LatchPay then registers its payment webhook on that business. If a business is already connected to your account, you can pick it instead.

   Theme line (about 2 minutes)

   Paste one script line above </body> in layout/theme.liquid. Continue unlocks once your store has loaded the line in the last 10 minutes; you can also skip for now, because the line does nothing until the checkout is switched on.

   Checkout look (optional, about 1 minute)

   A preview of the checkout with your store name. You can brand it later from Checkout in the dashboard.

6. 6

   Go live (about 5 minutes)

   Test in a private window, then switch the LatchPay checkout on. Finishing marks the setup complete and opens the dashboard.

Leaving and coming back

Go to dashboard at the top right leaves the wizard at any time. The dashboard Home shows the same steps as a checklist with Continue setup, and reopening the wizard resumes at the first unfinished step. Every step is also a page in the dashboard sidebar (Whop, Shopify, Theme snippet, Settings), so you can redo any of them later. To run another Shopify store from the same account, use Add another store in the store menu at the top left (see Add another store).

What LatchPay never asks for

• Sales settle to your own Whop business. LatchPay's monthly plan and the usage fee are billed to the card on your LatchPay membership, never out of a payout.
• Nothing changes for buyers until the last step. Until then they keep using Shopify's checkout.
